How to Take Advantage of Southwest Airlines’ New Companion Pass Promotion
If you’re a fan of Southwest Airlines, there’s an exciting new promotion that could get you a free Companion Pass for a limited time! This is a great opportunity for travelers, especially if you already have a trip booked for March. Here’s how you can take advantage of this deal:
Step 1: Register for the Promotion
Before booking or modifying any flights, you must register for the promotion here. I’m registering all four of us in my family just in case we can make the most of it.
Step 2: Check Your Existing Flights
The promotion requires you to book a round-trip or two one-way flights between now and March 31, 2025. Since I already have flights booked during this period, I’m checking the current prices compared to when I originally booked. If the price is the same or close, I’ll cancel my existing flights and rebook to qualify for the promotion. Southwest has a no-penalty cancellation policy, making this a no-risk move.
Step 3: Take the Flight
Once you’ve successfully booked your flight, all that’s left to do is take the trip! After completing your qualifying flight(s), you’ll unlock the Companion Pass.

Once you’ve met the requirements, you’ll receive a Companion Pass valid from August 7, 2025, through October 8, 2025. This allows you to bring a companion on your flights for free (excluding taxes and fees). Since all four of us in my family are eligible, I’m considering booking another trip where two of us could fly free, or even bringing along extra family or friends to take full advantage of this offer!

I am working towards getting the companion pass with 2 Southwest cards (Personal and Business) and I also signed up for this promotion since we already have a March Trip planned!
